Know your venue’s poster requirements

We only support poster printing from Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, and from CorelDraw 13 or the formats that those applications can read (postscript, pdf, and others). MS PowerPoint will print very nicely on the large format printer but it is limited in size.

We stock HP PhotoGloss poster paper 42" wide.  We have a matte finish coated paper 36" and 42" wide that works well for maps but is lighter stock than the PhotoGloss media.  We have examples of the media if you have any questions.  The GI, Dateline, and Alaska Digital Printing print up to 60" wide.

If you need a 4’ x 8’ poster, plan your seams to avoid text or art.

Pick an empty 1 hour time slot, and email Bill Witte (witte@alaska.edu) a request.  We'll enter requests into the calendar in the order received.

Hours for printing are generally M-F 9am – 5pm (i.e., DONE by 5pm), so if 10 people want to print the evening before a meeting, it ain’t going to work.

Drop off your poster to be printed on a CD.  We discourage flash-drives, they’re too easily lost.

If you finish your poster early please drop it off on a CD and we'll do it as soon as possible – it might be done before your scheduled time.

As with any electronic/mechanical device, breakdowns can happen.  We only have 1 large format printer, if it breaks down, that's it until it's fixed (before a recent GSA we were down for 24 hours in the week before GSA -- so it does happen).   If you plan on printing 2 hours before your plane leaves you might miss out.

Let us know if you have any questions or need any special assistance.  If you're doing a poster for the 1st time, contact Bill Witte (fnwkw@uaf.edu) about 2 weeks before the meeting so we can be sure things go smoothly.
