Major equipment in the Advanced Instrumentation Laboratory includes:

1) Cameca SX-50 Electron Microprobe - Equipped with 4 wavelength dispersive and one energy dispersive spectrometer, the probe provides elemental analysis of areas as small as 2 micrometers for all elements Z > 5 (Boron). Typical detection limit is 500-1000 ppm. We can also create digital and analog images from secondary, back-scattered, and absorbed electrons, as well as digital compositional maps.

2) Kevex 7000 Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer with IXRF computer system.

3) ISI-40 Scanning Electron Microscope with Kevex 7000 Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer with IXRF computer system for image and X-ray map acquisition.

4) Electroscan E2020 Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope

5) Canberra Gamma Ray Spectrometer with well detector
