Todd Sformo, a Ph.D. candidate, and Franzisca Kohl, a research technician with UAF's Institute of Arctic Biology, collect larvae of the beetle Coleoptera, which is capable of surviving temperatures as low as minus 70°, in a forest near the Fairbanks campus.
