Eveliina Salo, a student from Finland, uses a brush to clear off a small scraping stone uncovered at an archaelogical dig site near the Gerstle River in Interior Alaska. During the summer field camp in 2003, students uncovered various bones and artifacts dating back 12,000 years. The excavation project was sponsored by Northern Land Use Research, Inc. and the UAF anthropology department.
