The Maintenance Division has the responsibility of maintaining the integrity and appearance of all buildings, equipment,

Maintenance Division cares for approximately 257 buildings with close to four million square feet, which is 55% of the total
square footage of the entire University statewide system. The average age of the UAF buildings are 28.9 years with the
oldest constructed in the early 1940's and the newest, the Biological Research and Diagnostics Facility Building (BiRD),

Safety is a priority with a safety representative in each shop who meets monthly, or as needed, with the FS Occupational
Safety Officer. In recognition of our attention to safety, Facilities Services has received the Governor's Safety Award in 2004 and 2005.
