The mission of the Division of Maintenance - Electric Shop is to maintain the integrity of the
University buildings electrical and alarm systems using the highest standards
in quality, materials, and workmanship at a competitive cost.

Shop Summary
|
The Electric Shop supervisor reports directly to the
Director of Maintenance. The shop consists of state licensed journeymen
electricians, licensed alarm technicians, and electrical apprentices.
The greatest strength of this shop is the wide variety of experience its personnel brings to the
University. This shop maintains the electric service, which includes the responsibility of providing
maintenance and repairs to building power systems, interior and exterior lighting, parking lot head-bolt
installation and maintenance, and electrical motor installation and repairs. This shop is also
responsible for fire alarms, and intrusion alarms located on university
property and used by staff, faculty, researchers, students, and vendors. Other tasks include providing
and repairing backup generators and UPS systems.
The Electric shop employees are committed to providing professional, safe, and reliable electrical
installations on campus, and at the remote learning centers, in accordance with the accepted National Electric Codes.
