Ms. Julia H. Triplehorn

Associate Professor of Library Science, Emerita

WHEREAS Ms. Julia H. Triplehorn has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction from 1971 to 2009; and

WHEREAS Ms. Triplehorn has, in her role as librarian at the Keith B. Mather Library, been widely and enthusiastically praised for her tireless dedication to the researchers of the Geophysical Institute and International Arctic Research Center, whose work was often strengthened and enhanced by her discoveries of information previously unknown to them; and has assisted others in developing their own library research skills in both formal and informal settings; and

WHEREAS Ms. Triplehorn has proven herself highly accomplished in the field of library science; and has published extensively on the subject; and whose expertise in locating and obtaining copies of information related to the geosciences has resulted in a true partnership between faculty and students and the Library; and whose contributions to the growth and development of the Library, as well as to the work done by the researchers there, have gone well beyond its form, appearance and management; and

WHEREAS Ms. Triplehorn has been instrumental in the establishment of the Library as one of the foremost arctic geoscience libraries in the world, which in turn has helped the University establish itself as one of the world's pre-eminent arctic science institutions;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Julia H. Triplehorn for her extensive contributions to both the State of Alaska and the University; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. Triplehorn and as evidence of the University's desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Ms. Julia H. Triplehorn as Associate Professor of Library Science, Emerita; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Ms. Julia H. Triplehorn, and conveyed to Ms. Triplehorn on this day of May 10, 2009.
