Emeriti recipientsMs. Mary E. EarpAssociate Professor of Developmental English, EmeritaWHEREAS Ms. Mary E. Earp has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1986 to 2009; and WHEREAS Ms. Earp has untiringly dedicated tremendous amounts of time and energy to addressing the needs of her students, both inside and outside the classroom setting; and has been instrumental in the college success of a great number of underprepared students; and whose knowledge, dedication and teaching skills in the area of developmental English have been extraordinary; andWhereas Ms. Earp has enthusiastically adapted new and constantly evolving technologies to teaching and distance-delivery courses, ensuring that her classes maintain a freshness and currency much appreciated by her students; and has applied her discoveries in the classroom to develop innovative courses, teaching syllabi, workshops and presentations, all of which she shares generously with her colleagues; and WHEREAS Ms. Earp has brought honor to the University through her extensive institutional and community service; and has been active in leadership roles on committees at both the University and Fairbanks levels; and whose dedication to teaching has translated to many productive community members who credit her for their success; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Mary E. Earp for her extensive contributions to both the State of Alaska and the University; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. Earp and as evidence of the University's desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Ms. Mary E. Earp as Associate Professor of Developmental English, Emerita; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Ms. Mary E. Earp, and conveyed to Ms. Earp on this day of May 10, 2009. |
