Thesis: What Would Captain Underpants Do? A Literary Analysis of Children in School
This analysis found four tendencies in popular children’s books about school: 1) books with female protagonists focus on relationships, 2) books with male protagonists focus on power structure and subversion, 3) fantastical contexts seem better suited to facilitating deep character development, and 4) children have fantastical expectations of their teachers.
