Dr. Wanda M. Martin
Director, Emerita
WHEREAS Dr. Wanda M. Martin has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction from 1984 to 2006; and
WHEREAS Dr. Martin has enhanced the University's ability to attract and retain its students due to her work to bolster academic advising at UAF; and her expertise has been vital in crafting fair and rigorous student policies; and she has served on multiple boards and committees, both within the University and without, lending her experience and skill to the process of developing programs and initiatives aimed at serving students; and
WHEREAS Dr. Martin has trained and supervised dozens of faculty advisors whose efforts touched thousands of students every year; and her input and advice have enriched both the teaching and advising skills of countless University faculty members; and
WHEREAS Dr. Martin is known for her student-friendly philosophy; and she enthusiastically and energetically helped students understand the educational options available to them; and she served as a strong advocate for those students most in need of a champion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Martin for her extensive contributions to both the State of Alaska and the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Martin and as evidence of the University's desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Wanda M. Martin as Director, Emerita; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Wanda M. Martin, and conveyed to Dr. Martin on this day of May 13, 2007.
