Thesis: Cheechako Teacher: Narratives of First-Year Teachers in Rural Alaska
A narrative inquiry into the written accounts of first-year teachers in rural Alaska from 1896 to 2006, this dissertation points out the similarities and contrasts between historical accounts and contemporary accounts and seeks to bring these into dialogue with Alaska-specific pedagogical theories.

Thesis: Shadow Networks: Border Economies, Informal Markets, and Organized Crime in Vladivostok and the Russian Far East

Thesis: Language Switching on English Compositions of Latino Students in Alaska and Puerto Rico
This study describes how the first language of Latino students influenced their composing process when writing in English.
