2005 Professors Emeriti

Dr. Richard J. Stolzberg
Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus

WHEREAS Dr. Richard J. Stolzberg has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1978 to 2005; and

WHEREAS Dr. Stolzberg has applied his tremendous depth of knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering to further the scientific understanding of countless students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks; and has brought equal vigor to his classrooms in the teaching of introductory chemistry as well as the most complex graduate courses; and has contributed his expertise to fifty-three graduate committees and as research director for twenty-seven undergraduate students; and

WHEREAS Dr. Stolzberg has been esteemed by his peers for his contributions to scientific research and literature, including thirteen funded research grants and proposals, twenty-six articles in refereed publications, three articles in unrefereed publications and eleven presentations; and

WHEREAS Dr. Stolzberg has enhanced both his field of expertise in particular as well as the University of Alaska Fairbanks in general through his many hours of public service; and has been a reviewer and jury member for nine separate prestigious national publications and events; and has benefited the University through his work on numerous committees whose work ranged from the Honors Council to scholarship and search committees;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Richard J. Stolzberg for his extensive contributions to both the State of Alaska and the University; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Stolzberg and as evidence of the University's desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Richard J. Stolzberg as Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Richard J. Stolzberg, and conveyed to Dr. Stolzberg on this day of May 15, 2005.
