Initial Content Preparation Checklists

Complete and submit a review form for each student teaching content area. All candidates must demonstrate evidence of content area preparation in the teaching area for which the candidate is seeking endorsement. Specialized Professional Associations have prepared lists of courses, completion of which demonstrates competencies. Courses that comprise these lists may or may not constitute a content major. The Secondary Post-Baccalaureate Licensure Program recognizes completion of these course lists as demonstrations of competency (academic content analysis form). Please read the instruction on each form carefully.

The matrix is intended to guide the applicant in demonstrating her/his content knowledge through transcripts, Praxis II scores, reflective essays, and/or relevant work experiences. The applicant should list courses in the appropriate matrix cell. Applicants must submit transcripts for documentation, test score reports, and narratives for work/life experience documentation. To verify course content, applicants may be required to submit course descriptions, course syllabi, course products, or other documentation regarding the content of the course. When the documentation is work experience/life experience, the applicant must provide an annotated resume (supported by items such as letters of reference or employee evaluations) and a brief reference to this material in the appropriate cell. All of the evidence will be evaluated by a team of advisors from the UAF School of Education. Applicants will be notified if further evidence and/or coursework are needed. Content Preparation Checklists must be met at the 80% completion level.
