Mission Statement
Northern Latitudes Literacy Network is a forum for Alaskan teachers
dedicated to forging effective methods of literacy instruction. We believe
that reading and writing should be taught and
evaluated with respect for the needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds
of all students. Northern Latitudes advocates for the understanding of
current issues in literacy education and seeks to provide resources to
teachers, parents, students and communities through the creation of
a children's literature clearinghouse
and maintenance of a web site featuring informational newsletters, book
reviews, resources, teacher research, and UAF Reading Endorsement information.
