Education Minors
An education minor is ideal for students interested in exploring the possibilities of a career in education. The coursework provides a set of experiences that will help students decide if they want to be teachers before entering a licensure program.
A minor in general education would also benefit any students interested in education and issues involving children. Parents and concerned citizens will benefit from the critical perspective and insights such a range of courses provides. Students majoring in other disciplines will find this minor useful, for example:
- Anthropology, sociology and linguistics majors interested in applied research in educationally related areas
- Psychology and social work majors who will be working with families and school personnel
- History and philosophy majors interested in the history of childhood and schooling
- Political science and justice majors interested in child advocacy and children’s rights
