Advising and Student Support
The School of Education is one of the few schools/departments to offer academic advisors for its programs. Students (current, incoming freshman or transfer) are strongly encouraged to contact an advisor for the latest information on the degree or program of their interest. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education are required to meet with an advisor before registering for courses.

UAF Student Support Services
UAF Academic Center
The Advising Center provides academic advising for general studies, pre-major,
and non-degree seeking students. Degree check lists for academic majors
can be printed from this site. Links to Learning Resources including tutoring,
Student Support Services Program, Associated Students of Alaska Fairbanks,
the Writing Center, Math Labs, and much more can be found at their site.
Rural Student Services
(RSS)
RSS is a vital link joining the Fairbanks campus, rural communities and other
UAF campuses. Students may choose an RSS advisor who will provide comprehensive
academic advising and referrals to various support services on the Fairbanks
campus. RSS advisors can register students for classes, explain academic
requirements and explore degree and career options. They assist students
with the admissions and financial aid process to attend UAF, provide personal
counseling and student advocacy. RSS serves as a Native Student Center in
the Brooks Building to provide an atmosphere where students can share Native
cultural traditions on campus and attend Native student club activities,
as well as being a comfortable student gathering place.
Testing Services
As a national test center, the UAF Testing Services Office contracts and
administers paper and pencil, and computer-based exams. We advise UAF students,
prospective students and the community about national testing for college
admissions and placement, and about career and professional certification.
Our office coordinates private proctoring and credit by examination; locally
and through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Disabled students
may be entitled to special testing arrangements. Please call (907) 474-5277
for more information.
Disabilities Services
Disability Services provide a variety of services to assure equal access
for all students. Interpreting services, educational assistants, note taking,
and exam accommodations for students are the most frequently provided accommodations.
Disability services also provides assistance to the university's rural
campuses; Tanana Valley Campus, Bristol Bay, Chukchi, Interior-Aleutians,
Kuskokwim, and Northwest. The staff of Disability Services works with faculty
in arranging appropriate services in the classroom.
