Advising and Student Support
The School of Education is one of the few schools/departments to offer academic advisors for its programs. Students (current, incoming freshman or transfer) are strongly encouraged to contact an advisor for the latest information on the degree or program of their interest. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education are required to meet with an advisor before registering for courses.

Rural Student Services
Rural Student Services (RSS) is a vital link joining the Fairbanks campus, rural communities and other UAF campuses. Students may choose an RSS advisor who will provide comprehensive academic advising and referrals to various support services on the Fairbanks campus. RSS advisors can register students for classes, explain academic requirements and explore degree and career options. They assist students with the admissions and financial aid process to attend UAF, provide personal counseling and student advocacy.
RSS serves as a Native Student Center in the Brooks Building to provide an atmosphere where students can share Native cultural traditions on campus and attend Native student club activities, as well as being a comfortable student gathering place.
For more information contact Rural Student Services, Brooks Building main floor, telephone (907) 474-7871 or 1-888-478-1452, e-mail fyrss@uaf.edu, or visit online at www.uaf.edu/ruralss/.
