Outdoor Ed Center

What is the Outdoor Education Center

The mission of the Outdoor Education Center is to not only to provide the UAF Campus community with fun recreation opportunities right here on campus but to inspire the campus to lead our active lifestyle with our passion for the outdoors and knowledge in the field of outdoor education.   We do this through our open hours, our instructional clinics, and innovative programming at our outdoor climbing tower, indoor climbing wall, nanook terrain park, and disc golf course.

Climbing Facilities

Get outside on campus and try something BOLD! The Outdoor Climbing Tower is beginner friendly and will provide climbing gear and expert instruction. During the summer and fall we are open for rock climbing, rappelling and dry tooling. During the winter and spring we have ice climbing and dry tooling. Open hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 4-8PM & Saturday 12-4PM. Hours and seasons are weather dependent. The climbing tower is FREE to UAF students with an SRC Pass.

Want to use the Indoor Climbing Wall? Sign up for a Climbing Wall Orientation class at the front desk of the Student Rec Center. This hour long class gives you access to the indoor climbing wall whenever the SRC is open! The class gives you expert belay instruction and a climbing and belay certification for $10.
