The Dean of Students office provides a array of different services to the University. Services provided are as follows:
- Investigate alleged violations of university policies.
- Conduct hearings
- Provide information and consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents (if student has filled out a release for allowing the parent to access there information) regarding student conduct.
- Mediate conflicts between students and/or recognized student organizations, as possible
- Respond to conduct record checks by outside agencies
- Annually update
The conduct system at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is designed to be non-adversarial, with the intent of promoting behavioral change in the student while protecting the rights of the members of the university community.
When responding to behavior that violates federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, the Dean of Students office does not replace the ciminal justice system or other legal responses; rather, we adjudicates alleged behaviors separately from any legal action that is taken. Students and recognized organizations that violate law and university student conduct system.
University policies and regulations are provided in the Student Code of Conduct.
