The Authentic Teacher
Conference attendees may choose to enroll in this special 1 credit UAA graduate course offered in conjunction with the conference.
In the opening of her book, Becoming an Authentic Teacher in Higher Education, Cranton writes that “our development as teachers consists of a process of self-awareness and acceptance, coming to see that we cannot be all the things the Good Teacher is expected to be, and understanding that who we are as human beings is at the core of becoming an authentic teacher” (2001). Guided by Cranton’s text, participants will explore the expression of the genuine self within the classroom community.
