Human Diseases                                          HLTH 208     3 Credits

Introduction to the study of human diseases. Pathogenesis, etiology and predisposing factors will be examined. The most common diseases and disorders of each body system are presented along with a review of the pertinent anatomy and physiology. Includes the effects of aging on the system and the relationship of aging to disease.      Mondays 5:10 pm - 6:40 pm

 Inpatient Health Care Reimbursement                 HLTH 237     3 Credits

Rules and regulations governing the reimbursement of inpatient and hospital coding. Includes HIPPA regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, third party billing, and the legal and ethical guidelines of inpatient billing.             Tuesdays 5:10 pm – 6:40 pm

 Medical Terminology                                   HLTH 100     3 Credits    

Study of medical terminology including analysis and origin of word roots, prefixes and suffixes. Understanding the word components, students will be able to build, spell and define medical words. Content will be presented by body systems focusing on terms for anatomy, diagnostic, laboratory and medical specialties. Includes use of medical dictionary, word pronunciation and abbreviations.   Wednesdays 5:10 pm – 6:40 pm

 Administrative Procedures II                      HLTH 234     4 Credits

Office management and financial procedures used in medical offices. Includes medical financial recordkeeping systems and computerized office management systems. Includes ICD-9, CPT and coding systems, patient insurance billing/reimbursement procedures, the demonstration of computational skills in accounts payable/accounts receivable, and office management in the health care setting.    Thursdays 5:10 pm – 6:40 pm

 Medical Office Technology                         HLTH 193     3 Credits

This course introduces current and potential health care workers to computers and computer literacy and includes discussion of computer hardware and software, working with operating systems, keyboarding, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database concepts. Students will study various medical office management software and electronic health record systems.  Thursdays 5:10 pm – 6:40 pm

Professional Skills for the Workplace              HLTH 110      2 Credits         

Presents skills to ensure success for the professional secretary, receptionist, medical worker and others. Includes interview skills, business manners, customer service and dressing for success.  Fridays 5:10 pm -6:10 pm

 These courses are offered online (NOT by telephone). 

To participate, all you need is a computer with an Internet connection!

 Certificate in Health Care Reimbursement

PA series of ten billing and coding classes, health information classes, and medical office training

ä Tuition is $128 per credit hour and must be paid at time of registration. Class size is limited.

Registration runs November 19th- January 4th.   

 Classes run January 14th- May 2nd
