A $1 million BP donation to the University of Alaska Fairbanks will allow the Rasmuson Library to catalog and process more than 4,500 boxes of papers and media from the congressional career of former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens. The donation, made in partnership with the North to the Future Foundation, will span two years.

Keith Martin, KUAC/AlaskaOne director of engineering and technology, has been named general manager of KUAC. Martin received a Broadcasters of the Year 2009 TV Engineers Statewide for DTV Transition award from the Alaska Broadcasters Association for his work on KUAC's digital television transition.

EVENTS

Outdoor Adventures offers trips and rental equipment to students, faculty, staff and alumni. Upcoming trips include the Thanksgiving Hut Ski Trip Thursday – Sunday, Nov. 26 – 29, Lee's Cabin Overnight Trip Thursday – Friday, Dec. 5 – 6, and Beginning Ice Climbing Saturday, Dec. 12. For more information call 474-6027. Outdoor Adventures also offers north campus hikes twice a month on Tuesdays, with the next hike Nov. 24.

GRANTS AND AWARDS

Hajo Eicken, Geophysical Institute, was awarded the Louis Agassiz Medal by the Division of Cryospheric Sciences of the European Geosciences Union.

SCOREBOARD

Senior Nanook volleyball players Megan Thigpen and Alexa Sherman were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Conference team. Thigpen was named to the GNAC first team. This is Thigpen's fourth time being named to an all-conference team. Sherman received honorable mention to the team. This is Sherman's second time being named to the all-conference team.
