Grant and Contract Services

The welcome addition last October of Maggie Griscavage to the UAF administrative services management team as head of grant and contract services is just in time to accommodate the increase in research and other grant activity at UAF and the national emphasis on research compliance. Maggie comes to UAF with extensive pre- and post- award experience including the National Institutes of Health, a growing funding agency for UAF.

Maggie and the staff of GCS have been working with departments and the office of sponsored programs to create open communication channels. Pre- and post-award procedures are being reviewed with the goal to assure clarity, compliance, simplicity and effectiveness. Award acceptance, setup, sub-award establishment, authorized expenditures, closeout and the various roles of departments, sponsored programs, grants and contracts and procurement and business services are under the microscope.
Grant and contract services near-term goals include creating partnerships with other UAF units, (procurement and business services, facilities services, the office of research integrity and the rural campuses) and providing training, improved management and oversight of grant terms and conditions for all of UAF.
