>The 2014 Greenhouse, Nursery and Landscape Conference will take place in Anchorage on Nov. 14–15. Registration and draft agenda are available on the conference website.

>Extension and the UAF Community and Technical College will host six small business workshops during October and November. The workshops will be offered live in Fairbanks and by videoconference in Delta Junction, Juneau, Soldotna and Kodiak. The series kicks off on Oct. 9 with Starting a Small Business and continues through Nov. 13 with classes such as Writing a Business Plan, Legal Forms of Business and How to Get a Small Business Loan. See the flier for details and videoconference locations and register online.

>The annual Harvest Wrap-Up event in Delta Junction will be Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at the Delta Career Advancement Center. This gathering is for producers to learn from current research efforts, share observations and provide constructive comments for research needs that would benefit the industry. Extension and SNRE researchers will be present to discuss current and future research efforts and the 2014 Farm Bill.

>Extension will host two workshops on building rocket stoves in Fairbanks on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Each participant will also receive a pre-made steel rocket stove as well as a do-it-yourself wood burn box. The cost is $35 and interested participants can register online or call 474-5854 for more information.

>Become an Extension volunteer leader in the StrongWomen Program. You can help yourself while helping others in your community to prevent falls, improve bone density, strength and energy and make  everything  else you do easier.  After this one-day class, you will be prepared to start a program in a community site or assist with an ongoing program. This class will be held in Anchorage on Nov. 1. If you are interested, registration is available online or call 786-6300 for more information.
