Project Need The Project Need is a clear, concise, well-supported statement of the need, or problem, to be overcome using the requested funding. It should present the facts and evidence that support the need for your proposed project, and establish that you understand and therefore can reasonably address the problem. The information included in the needs statement should be factual and directly related to the problem, or need, addressed by the proposal. The Project Need statement should also be explicit about how your proposed project will make an improvement. Elements that should be included in your Project Need:
Your arguments should be succinct, yet persuasive and presented in a logical sequence that will readily convince the reviewer of their importance. Avoid information that is too generic or broad, or any circular reasoning that might cause a reviewer to question the need of the project. The Project Need statement is limited to 250 words. Good Example Links: Salmon Resources and Selawik Sample These are examples of funded mini-grant projects. The RFP requirements have changed since these projects were funded, so there are differences between the past and current RFP applications. UAF
