Cake and beverages were served at the reception honoring the 2012 graduates. UAF Photo by JR Ancheta Alexander Bergman on percussion and the rest of the UAF Wind Symphony, under the direction of Associate Professor Karen Gustafson, perform before the ceremony. Members of the Dillingham High School Dancers led the processional and performed on stage to begin the ceremony. Samuel Brewer earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering as a UAF honors scholar.
Professor Emeritus John Keller, retiring professor of chemistry, served as this year's Grand Marshal. Lydia Graf performs the national anthem. Graf earned her bachelor of music degree in performance, and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and a UAF Honors Scholar. Imuya Dooley shakes hands with alumni association President Jim Dixon after earning her degree in music. Robert Kinnard III shares a high five with Vice Chancellor Mike Sfraga after earning his degree in justice.
Elias Sturm stands ready to march across the stage to receive his degree in biological sciences. Professor Tom Weingartner secures the hood on Seth Danielson, who earned his PhD in oceanography. Jordyn Montgomery, summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, was recognized for her leadership honors. She was also selected as this year's recipient of the Marion Frances Boswell Award for outstanding graduating senior woman. Jordan Culver, magna cum laude in justice, was selected as the student speaker for the class of 2012.
Vice Chancellor Jake Poole received emeritus status for his years of service with UAF. Artist and educator Daniel Pierce accepts his honorary doctor of fine arts degree from University of Alaska President Pat Gamble. Kirsten Hutchinson earned her bachelor of arts degree in music performance. She displays her talent in singing the Alaska Flag Song. Hundreds of blue and gold balloons fall from the rafters marking the end of the ceremony.
Grace Milliken is all smiles after earning her bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude, in biological sciences.
