Mr. Larry N. Roberts
Associate Professor of Justice, Emeritus
Mr. Larry N. Roberts has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1984 to 2012.
His career with the University has focused on providing high-quality and culturally appropriate college-level instruction in human services for residents of rural Alaska. His work with the University has stretched across much of the State, from Southeast Alaska to Bethel. He has been a pioneer in including Alaska Native elders in his teaching endeavors and as co-presenters at conferences across the Nation. His work with Alaska Native students has served to foster a cadre of rural graduates who are staunch supporters of the University.
Mr. Roberts developed and directed the Lilly Arctic Institute on Innovations and Excellence in Teaching, and is director of the Alaska Rural Behavioral Health Training Academy. As a former coordinator and instructor at the Tok Center, his commitment and dedication helped expand the program into one that annually serves more than twenty percent of the adult population in the region.
