Mr. John C. "Jake" Poole

Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, Emeritus

Mr. John C. “Jake” Poole has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction from 1997 to 2012.

His contributions have touched nearly every aspect of UAF, including athletics, academics, workforce development and community relations. He has done so with dedication and an exemplary work ethic, and with a great amount of pride for the University and what it stands for.

Mr. Poole’s leadership and unwavering service to the University includes being the Executive Director of the UAF Alumni Association, director of the UAF Tanana Valley Campus and Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. He has also been tasked by University leadership to directly oversee other departments during times of transition, including serving as Interim Vice Chancellor for Student and Enrollment Services and Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation.

Mr. Poole is a highly respected leader whose opinion and advice are sought by many within the University and the Fairbanks community. He is extremely active in the community, having volunteered countless hours through his involvement on numerous boards and organizations. He has earned a reputation as a fair and compassionate problem solver, never seeking accolades for himself and always finding reward in the success of others.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. John C. "Jake" Poole for his extensive contributions to both the State of Alaska and the University.
