Ms. Clara R. Anderson

Ms. Clara R. Anderson has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction from 1983 to 2012.
She has consistently provided high-quality educational service evidenced by exemplary connection and engagement with rural Alaska communities. With extraordinary dedication, she has championed educational success for Alaska Native students at UAF for nearly 30 years.
Ms. Anderson has been described by her colleagues as a visionary who dedicated heart and soul to the development of the Interior-Aleutians Campus. Under her leadership the campus developed numerous place-based, rural-focused degree programs to meet the needs of the students and communities IAC serves. She has demonstrated faithfulness to the University mission by successfully pursuing and receiving grant funding for several student-support projects such as the TRIO Upward Bound program.
Throughout her career, she has always believed strongly in the value of higher education to improve the lives of others, working indefatigably to fulfill her vision of self-sustaining and healthy rural communities.
