Spring 2011 commencement will find all students wearing caps and gowns made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles!
Fewer plastic bottles will be choking our landfills because for every UAF student walking at commencement, averages of 23 plastic bottles were used to manufacture their cap and gown. In the latest effort to go green on campus, the new line of graduation wear -- named GreenWeaver-- is made of fabric spun from molten plastic pellets. With some 60 million plastic bottles going into U.S. landfills every day, UAF is helping to turn trash into keepsakes.
Cap and gown orders can be placed online at http://www.oakhalli.com/college/universityofalaska/
Last day to place an order is April 5, 2011. You can pick up and pay for your regalia at your UAF bookstore.
To order announcements or to get additional information please contact the UAF bookstore
Tip: On graduation day you may need bobby pins and safety pins; be sure to bring a small supply.
