Dr. F. Joseph Margraf
Professor of Fisheries, Emeritus
Dr. F. Joseph Margraf has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1999 to 2010.
He has been a supportive and inspiring mentor to the University's students, shepherding twelve graduate students to completion of their degrees, with an additional eleven students currently in progress.
He is respected nationally as a perspicacious and prolific scientist in the study of freshwater and anadromous fishes, having spent portions of his career leading investigations at prominent research and academic organizations across the United States; and whose findings have been presented in more than forty-five peer-reviewed publications.
He has, during the course of his career, accumulated an outstanding record of service at the University, State and National levels, most notably serving in leadership roles with the American Fisheries Society, for which he has been awarded the prestigious American Fisheries Society's Meritorious Service Award.
