Dr. Godwin A. Chukwu
Professor of Petroleum Engineering, Emeritus
Dr. Godwin A. Chukwu has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1990 to 2010.
He has had a wide-ranging impact on two decades of students, introducing or developing no less than eight petroleum engineering courses; has shared his extensive expertise by mentoring and guiding dozens of graduate students; and was recognized by his students thrice as the Outstanding Faculty of the Year.
He has contributed significantly to the body of knowledge in a broad range of engineering and geological applications to hydrocarbon exploration, production and transportation, authoring scores of publications, papers and abstracts; and is internationally reputed for his innovative research in the area of non-Newtonian fluid hydraulics applied to oil-well drilling and production technology and hydrodynamics of gas-to-liquids transportation in pipes.
He has made significant contributions to the University as Chair of the Petroleum Engineering Department, and member and President of the Faculty Senate; by establishing the Petroleum Advisory Board to enhance interaction between the Department and industry; and his active involvement in professional organizations and conferences.
