CNSM Atmsopheric Sciences featured on America.gov a video channel featuring American life, culture & politics, produced by the U.S. Department of State. The video shows how science and native knowlege work toghter to advance our understanding of climate changes in one of the worlds most telling locations.
CNSM Math Team takes top honors at National Competition
In a field of international competitors and Ivy League powerhouses in the 2008 Mathematical Contest in Modeling the three-member UAF team earned the competition’s highest designation--outstanding--and finished in the top nine out of 1,162 teams. The team also won the INFORMS prize for its work developing an algorithm to generate Sudoku puzzles of varying difficulty.
Fairbanks Daily News Miner article about Brandi Fleshman, a CNSM biology student who has gained national recognition for her work in Alaska entomology, cataloging Alaska spiders. She was also the 2008 CNSM Brina Kessel award winner for 2008.
Peter Flaig's Photo Blog
Growing up in Wisconsin, Peter Flaig had a fascination with the ancient shells he found in the limestone surrounding the fields in his Midwest backyard, because there wasn’t an ocean in sight. His curiosity eventually led to adventures in Antarctica and on the North Slope of Alaska, studying ancient environments, particularly river systems.
