Announcements
12.16.08: Final Grades for Chem 106 are posted on Blackboard. You will find your total points and the corresponding letter grade. If you believe there is an error in your grade, please see me ASAP. Grades will be inputted into UA on-line on Friday at noon.
12.16.08: If you are interested in collecting your graded labs from Chem 106, you can pick up your graded labs from Emily Reiter from her office, REIC 194B. She will hold onto them until February, 2009.
12.15.08: Scaled Final Exam Grades are no available on Blackboard, everyone received +14% on their raw % grade.
12.15.08: Final Exam Raw Grades (unscaled) are available in the gradebook section of Blackboard. The % is the number of correct/70 total questions. Average: 56.3% Median: 57.0% High: 86% Low 26%.
12.10.08: For fairness for penalized points for significant figures, Exam II and Exam III grades have been adjusted as follows: 5 points have been added to everyone's Exam II grades, and 10 points have been added to everyone's Exam III grades.
12.09.08: Chem 106 Final Exam is on Monday, December 15th at 8:00 am to 10:00 am in REIC 201B. Please make sure you have a #2 pencil and a nonprogrammable calculator. The final is the ACS certified exam, 70 multiple choice questions. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam.
12.09.08: Chem 106 Labs 1-10 are to be handed in no later than 5 pm on Friday, December 12th, the last day of instruction. Any Labs 1-10 handed in after this will not be graded and the grade will be a ZERO. Lab 11 due date is Monday, December 15th at 5 pm, and will not be accepted after this due date. Your lab grade is the best 10 of 11 labs and you must complete 8 labs in order to pass the class. Completing 7 or less labs will result in you failing Chem 106.
12.09.08: Exam III is graded, available for pick up in Dr. Petitto's office, before or after lecture, and during lab. Exam III answer keys are available on Blackboard in the "Course Documents" section in the Exam III folder and from the course webpage in the Exams section. Exam III Results Notes also are available on Blackboard.
11.24.08: Exam III on Chapters 18, 19, 20 is on Monday, December 8th. A practice exam is now available on Blackboard in the "Course Documents" section in the Exam III folder and the Course Webpage, and a review sheet is available on Blackboard only.
11.21.08: The due date for the final Class Survey and the Extra Credit available in OWL by doing the "End of the Chapter" problems has been changed to Monday, December 15th, at 11:00 pm from Friday, December 12th, in hopes you might use these extra credit problems as you study for the Chem 106 final.
11.04.08: Exam II is graded, available for pick up in Dr. Petitto's office, before or after lecture, and during lab. Exam II answer keys are available on Blackboard in the "Course Documents" section in the Exam II folder and from the course webpage in the Exams section. Exam II Results Notes also are available on Blackboard.
10.23.08: The last day to withdrawal with a "W" on your transcript is Friday, October 31st, those students who have a D+ or lower average, should consider withdrawing from the course. If you have any questions about your grade or if you should continue in the class, please come see Dr. Petitto.
10.23.08: Exam II on Chapters 15, 16, 17 is on Monday, November 3rd. A practice exam is available on Thursday, October 23rd on Blackboard in the "Course Documents" section in the Exam II folder and the Course Webpage, and a review sheet will be available on Blackboard only.
10.11.08: Dr. Petitto will be out of town after lecture on Wednesday, October 15th and will return for lecture on Monday, October 20th. I will have limited email contact. Dr. Gouin will be giving lecture on Friday, October 17th, finishing up Chapter 16. OWL assignments will continue to be due as scheduled in the course calendar.
10.10.08: The last day to apply for December, 2008 Graduation is Wednesday, October 15th.
10.08.08: Midterm Grades for EVERYONE are now available on UA on-line. Grades were calculated from Exam I 33%, OWL Homework 33%, and Clicker Quizzes 33%. Please check your grade for any discrepancies and/or adjustments that maybe needed in order for YOU to achieve the grade you would like in Chem106.
10.2.08: Exam I is now available; answer keys and an Exam I Results Notes handout that explains a few of the more problem questions. Exams can be picked up and grades are posted on Blackboard.
9.29.08: The answer to Question #6 on the Practice Exam should be C, a Super Critical Fluid has a density like a liquid and viscosity like a gas.
9.24.08: Office Hours for Dr. Petitto, E. Rieter, A. Anderson, and A. Jones are posted on Blackboard in the "Course Information" section.
9.24.08: Reichardt Building is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., on Saturdays 8:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Please be aware of these hours if you plan on using a computer lab to do OWL or other computer assisted assignments.
9.22.08: Exam I, Chapters 13, 14, 23 is on Wednesday, October 1st. A practice exam will be available by Wednesday, September 24th on Blackboard and the course webpage and a review sheet will be available on Blackboard only.
9.17.08: Clicker Quizzes with answers will be available only in Blackboard in the Course Documents section after lecture.
9.15.08: Reminder, there are NO Chem 106 Labs this week, September 15-19th, though the excel and math review assignments are due next week during your lab class.
9.10.08: The lecture notes slides I will be using during class will be available only in Blackboard in the Course Documents section before each Monday class by 8:30 am.
9.9.08: Please send me an email with your Name and Clicker Device ID so I can assign you a Response Number via an email response. Clicker grades will start to be recorded during Friday, September 12th lecture.
9.3.08: There are NO Chem 106 Labs this week, September 4-5th. Chem 106 Labs start next week, the week of September 8th.
9.2.08: OWL access card for Chem106 is for Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity, 7th Ed. by Kotz, Treichel, Townsend even though the lecture will use Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity, 6th Ed. by Kotz, Treichel, Townsendonly. For those who need a new OWL access card, you can purchase it online here. Click on the "General" tab and then the book icon for Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity, 7th Ed. by Kotz, Treichel, Townsend, where you have the option to buy OWL access code for 1 semester for $33.49 or 2 semesters for $46.49.
9.2.08: Lecture starts Friday, September 5th at 9:15 am and will be held in the Reichardt Building, room 201B. Chem 106 labs start the week of September 8th with lab Check-In and a Math Review.
