Graduate Application Process & Forms

Review of applications for Fall admissions occurs early in the spring semester. To ensure that your application receives full consideration it is strongly recommended that your application materials are received by the department by mid-January (therefore submitted to the Admissions office in December). Prospective students may be considered for admission at other times (e.g. to start in the spring term); please contact the program coordinator for more information in this case.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score are required for all applicants and TOEFL Exam scores are required for international students.

For your 3 Letters of Reference please use the Reference Form posted at this link.

Note that there is a non-refundable application fee of $60.00.

In addition to following the UAF application procedure, please send the following documents directly to the Environmental Chemistry Program:

  • A Summary Form
  • A copy of your Statement of Graduate and Research Interests and Professional Goals.

Your Statement of Graduate and Research Interests and Professional Goals is a particularly important part of your application packet. This statement should be one to two pages long, detail your specific scientific interests, your personal background as it has shaped your interests, and your professional goals. Please explain what areas of environmental chemistry you are interested in and point out which research groups appeal to you.
