Being the major higher educational gateway in the city of Fairbanks, the Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is dedicated to helping the community. The Student Chapter is committed to helping with community involvement in science in several annual events. For example, ACS students help produce the Science Potpourri, which is a science showcase held in the Natural Science Facility each spring. We also sponsor outreach programs in local high schools based on current student research projects. Sharing our research activities with the community helps local citizens see how UAF is contributing to the various fields of chemistry.
