Welcome to Biochemistry!

Objectives:

  1. Know the basic kinds of reactions in metabolic processes (glycolysis, kreb's cycle, electron transport, oxydative phosphorylation).
  2. Explain the role (function) of ATP and its importance in living systems.
  3. What is meant by high-energy bonds? Why are these bonds high-energy? (Be able to relate the structure of ATP to its function).
  4. Know where the energy cycles discussed take place in a cell.
  5. Be able to discuss the concept of compartmentalization.
  6. Be able to discuss the importance of blood sugar levels, and basic control of insulin.
