FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED INSURANCE QUESTIONS
PLEASE REFER TO THE STUDENT INSURANCE BROCHURE FOR LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS BEGINNING ON PAGE 11.
Q: What does the insurance cover?
A: This policy is designed to cover minor illness and injury. It pays 80% of Usual and Customary charges, after your deductible has been paid, to off set the cost of medical care when used at community clinics.
Q: What does Usual and Customary mean?
A: Usual and customary charges are calculated at 80% of the average cost for a procedure. This average is based on the cost of similar procedures done for our location.
Q: What does a pre-existing condition mean?
A: Any illness or injury that a person may have prior to obtaining this policy. A student must be on this policy continuously for one full year before a pre-existing condition will be covered, unless they have had prior insurance coverage directly before this policy went into effect.
Q: Does this insurance cover dental?
A: There is very limited dental coverage because this is not a preventative coverage policy. It will help off set the cost if there is damage to a sound natural tooth, or abscessed/impacted wisdom teeth.
Q: Does it cover contacts or eye exams for glasses?
A: No, because it is not a prevention type of insurance. It will cover an eye injury up to the terms of the policy as an injury or illness.
