UAF Center for Health and Counseling. I am here to see students for any of there health concerns, and I am excited about working with the college students at UAF. * * * I am new to UAF but have been a Registered Nurse practicing in interior Alaska since 1978 and more recently as a Nurse Practitioner at the Interior Community Health Center for the past 6 years. The majority of my nursing practice has been in public health, For thirteen years I traveled to many interior villages as the public health for the State of Alaska and then as a school nurse for Yukon-Koyukuk School district . I particularly enjoy working with individuals of other cultures and doing health teaching and preventative health counseling. I have experience providing women's health care, STD testing and education, Tuberculosis screening and treatment, and care to individuals with chronic health conditions i.e. hypertension, diabetes, and asthma. I have taught early pregnancy classes, first aide classes, and family education classes. In my free time I enjoy camping, canoeing/kayaking, cross country skiing and I love to cook. My husband and I play folk/celtic music and are members of the contradance band, Polar Drive . We also are volunteers for the Big Brother/Big Sister organization and have had a "little brother" since 1999.
