Dear UAF friends and family,
Sherry and I want to wish you all the best this holiday season. It's a busy time of year, with end-of-semester responsibilities, concerts, parties, gift wrapping, cooking and everything that goes along with the season. I hope that in the midst of all the activity, you also find time for quiet and reflection.
Many of us are fortunate in our circumstances, but many others are not. I encourage everyone to take a moment to extend a kind word or a helping hand to someone in need. What you choose to do is less important than doing something, anything. If it is meaningful to you, it will be meaningful to others.
In the spirit of coming together in celebration and helping, I invite all the UAF community to a holiday gathering Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Regents' Great Hall on the Fairbanks campus. We welcome donations of nonperishable food for the new Wood Center food pantry, established by UAF students to help other UAF students who need a little help feeding themselves or their families.
I look forward to seeing you at the gathering, and to working and learning together in the coming new year.
