Committee on the Integration of Research and Teaching in the Sciences
Welcome to the Committee on the Integration of Research and Teaching in the Sciences (CIRTS) faculty survey. We thank you for taking the time to take the survey.
CIRTS is charged with answering the question "How should UAF position itself to succeed by integrating teaching and research?"
As faculty members we agree with Chancellor Rogers when he says, "Our institutional success in teaching and research depends on the success of individual faculty members." Based on our faculty listening tour this past spring we believe that this survey will provide us with a unique set of both quantitative and narrative information that we can use to inform the chancellor as he works for the future success of the university.
This survey is intended for those faculty members with appointments in the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, the Institute of Arctic Biology, the International Arctic Research Center, and/or the Geophysical Institute.
You may wish to prepare your narrative replies ahead of time in a word processor and cut-and-paste them into the survey. We have provided several pieces of information that you may choose to review before taking the survey;
1. Memo from Chancellor Rogers (PDF)
2. Copy of CIRTS Interim Report (PDF)
3. Copy of Survey Questions (PDF)
The University of Alaska Office of Information Technology is conducting this survey on behalf of CIRTS. No personal information is collected in the process and all data submissions will remain anonymous.
If you have any questions or comments please contact the committee members. The committee chair, Richard Collins, can be contacted at rlc@gi.alaska.edu or 474-7607.
We thank you once again for your participation,
Richard Collins (Chair), Elizabeth Allman, Perry Barboza, Mike Castellini, Terry Chapin, Kimberly Cox, Jeffrey Freymueller, Mike Harris, Thomas Kuhn, Dani Sheppard, Marsha Sousa, Renate Wackerbauer, and Kevin Winker.
