Regional Climate Projections: Southwest Alaska and Aleutians Islands

Available Online Only. As with the rest of Alaska, temperatures in Southwest Alaska and the Aleutian Islands are projected to increase. Although snowfall may decrease in many parts of the Aleutians, overall precipitation is expected to increase. Regional impact could be severe, with an increase in the incidence and intensity of storms and rising sea level. Higher ocean temperatures will like affect marine birds and mammals as well as subsistence hunting and fishing.
