Within Alaska's Health, Home & Family Development program are individual home economists living in and working in the district offices around the state. Alaska's home economists continue their traditional duties of promoting strong families by delivering skills and training which enhance the quality of life on America's Last Frontier. Two highly popular relatively new programs are financial planning for women and food safety training for commercial food handlers. Within the state office are the energy specialist, Food Science and Home Economics specialist and the EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) specialist.
