Tools and Surveys
This sample survey is designed to be used by a village to gain basic information about local food resources and community access to affordable food. It may be used as written, or added to and modified according to a village's needs. Information collected through this survey may helpful in planning and developing a community food project for a single village, or for a sub-regional group of villages.
This template may be downloaded and used to calculate the start-up costs for agricultural projects ranging from a home garden to small-scale food production. Although it was designed for small agricultural projects, the spreadsheet design is simple enough that it could be adapted for many of the typical components of a community food project (market stand at the local store, community-supported agriculture, village poultry operation, etc.) Requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
