The Kenai Peninsula Borough lies directly south of Anchorage, the state’s largest population center.  Covering approximately 25,000 square miles of which 15,700 are land, we are bordered by the waters of the Gulf of Alaska and Prince William Sound, home to the Chigmit and Kenai Mountains with forests, lakes and glaciers. Our diverse economy includes oil and gas industries, commercial fishing and tourism.

We are home to several major suburban areas and many rural communities and native villages which grace us with almost 55,000 residents, from our traditional residents to homesteaders to new arrivals. Extension programming must therefore meet a wide variety of interests. We serve farmers from large scale hay producers and peony growers to home and hobby gardeners. To meet the needs of a world class fishing location, our Health, Home and Family Development expert provides safe and sustainable programs with pressure canner testing and food safety resources. With a family focus across the Kenai Peninsula, the 4-H program provides a wide range of opportunities for youth of all ages.

We encourage all to stop by for a visit when you are in the area.
