How Does It Work?
The Family Nutrition Program offers a series of free lessons designed to help families eat better for less. The lessons explore different topics leading to better management of food dollars, improved nutrition, enhanced food preparation skills, effective menu planning, and better food safety skills. Lessons are research-based from accredited institutions and the USDA and based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and include the importance of daily physical activity. Customized lessons explore the different nutritional needs during pregnancy, the needs of infants, and the needs of young children. All lessons provide research-based, insightful information that appeals to all learning styles and levels. Nutrition Educators offer classes at the sites of partner agencies, food pantries, Cooperative Extension Service offices, schools, Senior Centers and other locations that are convenient and accessible.
