For Parents and Volunteers

Parents and volunteers are the heart of 4-H. As a caring adult, you can provide encouragement and support of kids in reaching their fullest potential and leading productive lives. Please read our welcome guide, Congratulations–You Have Become a 4-H Parent.
Contact your district office to find out what's happening in 4-H in your area. Want to learn something new, have fun and meet others in your community and beyond? Check out our volunteer application below.
The success of over 13,000 4-H participants in Alaska is due in large part to the parents and volunteers who provide youth with a safe and nurturing environment to learn and feel good about themselves and their communities. A priority for UAF 4-H is to ensure that volunteers receive the help and support they need to be successful as well. This website provides you with links to helpful resources to get started.
WRLF
Each year one of the 13 western states hosts the conference called Western Region 4-H Volunteer Leaders' Forum (WRLF), a fun and educational event for sharing and learning.
> The 2012 WRLF website is now available. The theme is "4-H Western Rendezvous: Under Cowboy Skies," and the conference is scheduled to take place January 12-15 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The 2011 WRLF was an Alaska cruise hosted by Washington State University Extension. You can get a taste for the types of activities by visiting the WRLF 2011 agenda website.
Plan ahead for Alaska's hosting in 2016 in Fairbanks. Let us know if you are interested in helping out. Contact Deb Jones, deb.jones@alaska.edu, for more information.
