Degree: A.A.S.

Minimum Requirements for Degree: 60 credits

Individuals, as well as Alaska industries, must meet increasing training and certification requirements reflecting more complex business and industrial standards. The Apprenticeship Technology program provides vocational training and prepares graduates for the rapidly changing global workplace.

The curriculum reflects a practical integration of general education and training for vocational-technical trades. Individuals receiving this degree must complete a formal apprenticeship program and hold journeyman-level status in trades recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.

Students declaring a major in Apprenticeship Technology must present documentation of completion of an apprenticeship program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. Documentation will be evaluated based on standards promulgated by the university and up to 38 credits will be accepted following completion of all courses listed in the degree requirements section.

Major

Apprenticeship Technology -- A.A.S. Degree

  1. Complete the general university requirements.
  2. Complete the A.A.S. degree requirements. (As part of the A.A.S. degree requirements, complete ANTH/SOC 100X; MATH 107X or MATH 131X.)
  3. Complete the following:
    EMS 103 -- Emergency Trauma Training First Responder (3 credits)
    STAT 200 -- Elementary Probability and Statistics (3 credits)
  4. Complete 3 credits from the following:
    AIS 101 -- Effective Personal Computer Use (3 credits)
    CIOS 100 -- Introduction to Personal Computers (1 credit)
    CIOS 103 -- Computer Survey (1-3 credits)
    CIOS 105 -- Computer Software Application (1-3 credits)
    CIOS 110 -- Microcomputer Operating Systems (1-3 credits)
    CIOS 111 -- Computer Software for Beginners (1-2 credits)
    CIOS 150 -- Computer Business Applications (1-3 credits)
    CIOS 151 -- Integrated Software (1-3 credits)
    CIOS 152 -- Introduction to Microcomputers in Small Businesses (1-3 credits)
