English as a Second Language

ESLG 051      1-3 Credits
Speaking English as a Second Language
Engaging in English conversation. For students who do not speak English as their first language, but who can understand and follow simple instructions in English. The emphasis is on large quantities of comprehensible English, and building student confidence in understanding and speaking it. May be repeated up to nine credits. Offered As Demand Warrants


ESLG 061      1-3 Credits
Reading English as a Second Language
Language experience approach and other methods are used to increase students' abilities and to build their confidence in reading English as it is encountered everyday. For students whose first language is not English, this class provides an opportunity to develop the skills involved in reading simple passages in English. May be repeated up to nine credits. Offered As Demand Warrants

Writing English as a Second Language
Developing skills at writing simple English compositions. For students whose first language is not English. The emphasis is on writing large quantities of English which is understandable to native English speakers, and on building students' confidence in communicating through written English. May be repeated up to nine credits. Offered As Demand Warrants
