Recreation

RECR courses are available to all UAF students who meet stated prerequisites. Students with disabilities are encouraged to participate. Any students requiring special accommodations are asked to contact the department office as soon as possible. RECR 110-170 courses include instruction, practice and activity in physical activities, sports and dance. Courses may be taken for credit once. Courses are graded pass/fail.

Aquatic Activities and Instruction
Instruction and practice in aquatic activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) swimming, conditioning, aquaaerobics, water polo, springboard diving and synchronized swimming. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring


RECR 120 1 Credit
Conditioning, Exercise, Fitness and Well-Being
Instruction and practice in activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) multi-fitness conditioning, recreational fitness activities, running, cycling, walking, weight training, aerobics, power lifting, tai chi chuan and yoga. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring

Dance Activities and Instruction
Instruction and practice in dance activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) ballet, ballroom, folk, ice, jazz, modern, square and western. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring


RECR 140 1 Credit
Leisure Time Sporting Activities
Instruction and practice activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) canoeing, kayaking, golf, rock climbing, mountaineering, orientation, billiards, handball, racquetball, tennis, table tennis, bowling, fencing (materials fee: $45.00), pistol marksmanship, rifle marksmanship and fly-fishing. Martial Arts and Combatives
Instruction and practice in martial arts and combative activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) boxing, aikido, karate and tae kwon do. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring

Recreational and Team Sports
Instruction and practice in activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, team handball and varsity athletics. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring

Winter and Ice Sports
Instruction and practice in winter and ice activities at beginning through advanced levels including (but not limited to) ice skating, speed skating, ice hockey, ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and curling. Graded Pass/Fail. (0 + 3) Offered Fall, Spring
