Sociology is the study of groups and their influence on personal behavior and culture. It is concerned with social processes that give rise to and shape human language, experience, perception, meaning and behavior.

 

Undergraduate Program

Major

Sociology -- B.A. or B.S. Degree

  1. Complete the general university requirements.
  2. Complete the B.A. or B.S. degree requirements (page 33 or 34).
  3. Complete the following program (major) requirements:*
    SOC 101 -- Introduction to Sociology (3 credits)
    SOC/PSY 250 -- Introductory Statistics for Behavioral Sciences (3 credits)
    SOC/PSY 330 -- Social Psychology (3 credits)
    SOC 363 -- Social Inequality and Stratification (3 credits)
    SOC 402 -- Theories of Sociology (3 credits)
    SOC 408 -- Race and Ethnic Relations (3 credits)
    SOC/SWK 473W -- Research Methods in the Social Sciences (3 credits)
  4. Complete 12 credits * from the following electives:**
